The work of schools in the Arab world is a topic about which very little is known in the West. This volume, first published in 1991, provides information about the Arabic school and thus contributes to the understanding of what is taught, by whom and under what conditions. It seeks to identify the interaction between traditional and innovative elements of the forces impinging on the Arab school, as well as the revision of the policy relating to the education of Arab children. It is alleged that the Arab schools are in a state of transition, society reproduction and its rules on the one hand, and the other works as agents seeking to transform society. In this paper, we consider this requirement in detail, providing a unique discussion on education in the Arab world.
