Whether Shakespeare adaptation momentum Poll changed over time, Lynn Bradley argues for the restoration of a sense of historicity to adapt the study. Bradley compares the story of Nahum Tate's King Lear (1681), an adaptation of David Garrick in the middle of the eighteenth century and nineteenth century Shakespeare burlesques until the twentieth century theater rewriting of King Lear, and offers a latter-day adaptation should be seen as a unique genre that allows playwrights to express modern subject position with in terms of their literary heritage at the same time to participate in the wider debate about art and society. In determining and moving various adaptive gestures in this historical framework, Bradley explores the relationship between the critical and creative in the history of Shakespearean adaptation. Focusing on such works as the wife of Gordon Bottomley King Lear (1913), Lear by Edward Bond (1971), Howard Barker's Seven Lears (1989), and the Daughters of the Women's Theatre Group Lear (1987), Bradley theorizes that the current rewriting of Shakespeare are new type text interaction based on simultaneous dual gesture of cooperation and failure. She suggests that this interaction provides new composite groups such as feminist collective, who wrote the daughters of Lear, strategy, to recognize their duty to Shakespeare in writing against the traditional and negative perceptions of femininity they see reflected in his plays.
