In 1861, Colonel Grenville Dodge organized the fourth Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment and led them to war. Promoted to the rank of Major General, the Dodge was one of the youngest divisional, departmental housing and the commanders in the army. This book covers the career of the civil war and the history of the Fourth Dodge Iowa, who fought at Pea Ridge, of Vicksburg, Chattanooga and Atlanta.
