Chinese Effect on English Renaissance literature examines how English writers have responded to the culture shock caused by the first significant meeting between China and Western Europe. Author Mingjun Lu explores how Donne and Milton came to be aware of England # 226; # 8364; # 8482; s participation in the # 226; # 8364; # 732; race in the Far East # 226; # 8364; # 8482; initiated by Spain and Portugal, and how this new global awareness of the presentation of cultural pluralism. Based on the theory of globalization, the structure of which is useful to help us rethink the literary world of the Renaissance in England in terms of the global maritime network, Lu offers concept # 226; # 8364; # 732; liberal cosmopolitanism # 226; # 8364; # 8482; Early Modern English to study the interaction of the other. The development of culture of the Chinese, Lu argues, Donne and Milton instilled respect for differences and cosmopolitan curiosity that eventually led both authors to reflect the deep and previously unexplored ways for their Eurocentric assumptions and monotheistic. The liberal cosmopolitan model not only opens the Renaissance literary texts to the theory of globalization, but also initiates a new way of thinking about the beginning of a new conflict on the other side beyond the usual colonial / post-colonial, nationalist and Orientalist framework. Pressing the East-West contact back to the period in 1570-1670, Lou # 226; # 8364; # 8482; s work reveals some hitherto unrecognized Chinese elements in Western culture and their impact on changes in the shape of the English literary imagination.
